In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden practices and fearsome changes resonate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden sect.
The questline centers on "strange tests and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Material
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
