“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further clarified that the gesture was completely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply put up the wrong finger,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an league proprietor has been fined for misconduct. Recent examples involve:
